Wishing Well by Mando Marie

S16 Gallery is proud to present our first exhibition of 2021, Wishing Well, by Mando Marie. The show highlights Marie's iconic "Reading Girl" series, along with several pieces combining stencil work, ink, aerosol and acrylic on canvas. 

The exhibition title, Wishing Well, is a testament to what Mando is wishing us all in these uncertain times. It's about trying to be brave, to get guidance from the inner self, or even a kind of ghostly guidance from elsewhere. It's about facing forward, even though you may feel confused at times. Like the wishes we make when we toss a coin in well, or like the hope we have for a friend to do well. The work is about pushing toward a light, even if you're stumbling through the garden in the dark.
